Max Brand Biography

Max Brand (born Frederick Schiller Faust) was an American writer who lived from 1892 to 1944. He was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in California. He was known for his prolific writing in many genres including Westerns, adventure stories, detective fiction, and romance novels. He wrote over 200 novels and hundreds of short stories, under various pseudonyms including George Owen Baxter, Evan Evans, John Frederick, and David Manning. He became famous for his Westerns and was considered one of the top Western writers of his time. Max Brand died in a car accident in 1944, leaving behind a legacy of thrilling and entertaining stories that continue to be popular today.
