John Galsworthy (1867-1933) was a prolific English novelist and playwright, best known for his series of novels collectively titled *The Forsyte Saga*. Born into a wealthy family, Galsworthy was educated at Harrow and Oxford. Initially trained as a lawyer, he soon turned to writing, publishing his first work in 1897. His literary career flourished with a focus on social issues and the British class system, often critiquing the moral shortcomings of the upper class.
