Summary
"Child Life in Town and Country" is a short story by French author Anatole France. The story revolves around a young boy named Maurice who is sent to live with his grandparents in the countryside. He finds the country life to be simple and pleasant compared to the noise and bustle of the city. However, he soon becomes bored and longs for the excitement of the city once again. Eventually, he returns to the city and realizes that he has come to appreciate both the simplicity of the countryside and the excitement of city life.
