William Duane Ennis Biography

William Duane Ennis was born on December 21, 1868, in Fenton, Michigan. He was an American politician who served as a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1903 to 1911, representing the 8th congressional district of Michigan.

Ennis received his education from the Fenton and Holly high schools, and later attended the University of Michigan, where he studied law. After completing his education, he worked as a lawyer and was actively involved in local politics.

In 1902, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, where he served for two consecutive terms. During his tenure, he was a strong advocate for the rights of workers and farmers and was known for his progressive views on social and economic issues.

In 1911, Ennis declined to run for re-election and returned to his law practice. He remained active in politics, serving as a delegate to several state and national conventions and as a member of the Republican National Committee.

William Duane Ennis died on September 29, 1940, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 71. He was remembered for his contributions to the political landscape of Michigan and the United States and for his dedication to the rights and well-being of working-class Americans.
