Thomas Adolphus Trollope Biography

Thomas Adolphus Trollope (1810-1892) was an English writer and journalist. He was born in London to a family of writers, including his mother Frances Trollope and his more famous brother, Anthony Trollope.

Trollope initially worked in the legal profession but later turned to writing full-time. He published several books on Italian history and culture, drawing on his experiences living in Italy for over two decades. He also wrote novels, travelogues, and biographies.

In addition to his literary pursuits, Trollope was involved in journalism, working as a correspondent for The Times and The Daily News, and later co-founding the Italian political journal The People's Journal.

Trollope was a strong advocate for Italian independence and played a role in the political events of his time. He was also an active member of the intellectual and cultural circles in Italy and England, counting among his friends and acquaintances writers and artists such as Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Giuseppe Garibaldi.

Trollope died in Florence, Italy in 1892 at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy as a writer, journalist, and champion of Italian culture and independence.
