Max Beerbohm Biography
Max Beerbohm (1872-1956) was a British writer, caricaturist, and cartoonist. He was born in London and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. He began his career as a caricaturist, drawing satirical illustrations for magazines such as "Punch" and "Vanity Fair." He also wrote several books, including "The Works of Max Beerbohm" and "A Christmas Garland." In addition to his illustrations and writing, Beerbohm was also known for his wit and humor, and was a popular figure in London society. He retired from public life in the 1930s and lived in Rapallo, Italy, until his death in 1956. His works are still considered to be a unique example of wit and elegance in the English language.
