Martha Finley Biography

Martha Finley (1828-1909) was an American author and teacher best known for her series of children's books, the "Elsie Dinsmore" series. Born in Maryland, Finley was an educator and wrote over 30 books during her lifetime. The "Elsie Dinsmore" series was her most popular and widely read works, and followed the life of a young girl who faces various moral and religious challenges throughout her life. Finley's books were popular in their time and still continue to be read and loved by many today. She died in 1909 in Washington D.C.
