Jerome Klapka Jerome was an English writer, best known for his humorous novel "Three Men in a Boat" (1889). He was born in Walsall, Staffordshire, England on May 2, 1859 and died on June 14, 1927 in Northampton, England.

Jerome began his career as a journalist and theater critic, but later turned to writing fiction. He published several novels, including "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" (1886) and "The Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" (1886). He also wrote several plays and travel books.

"Three Men in a Boat" was his most successful and enduring work, and it remains a classic of English literature. The book is a humorous account of a boating holiday on the Thames, and it is widely considered to be one of the greatest comic novels in English literature.
