Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855) was an English novelist and poet, best known for her novel "Jane Eyre." Born in Thornton, Yorkshire, she was the third of six children in a literary family. After the early deaths of her mother and two sisters, Charlotte attended the Clergy Daughters' School, which inspired the grim Lowood School in "Jane Eyre." Charlotte and her surviving siblings, including Emily and Anne, wrote stories and poems together. Under the pseudonym Currer Bell, she published "Jane Eyre" in 1847 to critical acclaim. Charlotte's works are celebrated for their emotional depth and strong, complex female characters. She died at 38 from complications during pregnancy.
