Bayard Veiller Biography
Bayard Veiller (1869-1943) was an American playwright and screenwriter, best known for his work in the early days of American cinema. He was born in New York City and began his career as a playwright, writing several successful stage plays in the 1890s and early 1900s. In the 1910s, he began working in the emerging film industry, writing scripts for silent films. He went on to write over 200 film scripts, including several Hollywood classics such as "The Unseen," "The Trial of Mary Dugan," and "The Cheat." Veiller's plays and films often dealt with social and moral issues, such as crime and punishment, and were known for their realistic and gritty portrayals of life in urban America. He died in 1943 in New York City.
