Agatha Christie Biography

Agatha Christie (1890-1976) was a British crime novelist, playwright, and short story writer. She is widely considered the best-selling novelist of all time, having sold more than two billion copies of her works. Born in Torquay, England, she began writing fiction while working as a nurse during World War I. She first published a novel, "The Mysterious Affair at Styles," in 1920, introducing her most famous character, detective Hercule Poirot. Throughout her career, she wrote 66 detective novels, 14 short story collections, and 6 romance novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. Her works have been adapted into plays, films, and television series, including the popular BBC series "Miss Marple" and "Poirot." Christie's work has been translated into more than 100 languages, and her books continue to be popular today. She passed away on 12th January 1976.
